This Fall, Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks will be released. A few lucky folks got an advanced copy of Mavericks, and Apple has some great things in store for Mac users. Here's a quick peek at what you can expect to see when the leaves start to change color.

Inside Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Apple kicks off Mavericks with an all new way to find things. The 'finder' feature now looks a lot like Safari with small tabs that can be opened in order to display multiple windows. This means that you can move tabs around and even move files directly to Air Drop from within the Finder folder. Apple has also made it simpler to organize documents.

If you're like me and you have thousands of documents that are created within one given month, you also have a hard time finding documents. In fact, it's one of my biggest annoyances with the current Mac setup.

With Mavericks, you can add tabs to files in the form of different colors. From there, you can search for a colored file - kind of like a physical filing system without all the clutter. This filing feature will definitely make finding documents easier!

Calendar Updates Too

If you use your Mac calendar, you'll like the new look of the Mavericks calendar. Instead of that old leather-bound look, the new calendar features a much simpler design that draws attention right to important dates. The new calendar will even provide you with meeting addresses and maps - and that brings me to the newest Mac feature: Apple Maps.

Maps On Your Mac

That's right, Apple is bringing Apple Maps to your Mac. Did you just shrug your shoulders? Alright, Apple Maps has received a bit of a bad reputation, but it's still a really handy mapping program. Also, Apple has been working on improving Maps, so don't go by that original version. Apple Maps will work with Mavericks' calendar, and maps will also pop up when you are using Apple Mail if someone sends you an address.

And what would a Mac OS update be without a few Safari updates too? Safari did, indeed, get some updates this time around. The most noticeable feature is the bookmarks tab that now sits to the left of your screen. The Top Sites portion of Safari also has a new look, and it's much easier to customize this part of Safari (good thing, because it was tough to do so before!).

'Additional Features and Details

As mentioned, Apple's Mavericks will be available this coming Fall. Mavericks does include some features and upgrades that are not listed here, so keep this in mind. When the full version of Mavericks does come out, expect a complete review of the OS. From the loos of things, Apple has carefully thought over the new Mavericks OS, and this OS will be a big improvement over the last.

As far as pricing goes, Apple has kept this information under wraps for now. However, you can expect Mavericks to be in line with previous Apple OS release prices.
