Babies don’t really need much. They need a place to sleep, food to eat, and lots of love - at first. Once newborns start to grow, though, they require a lot more attention and a lot more stuff. This is why baby stores are packed with expensive items all claiming to entertain your child the longest.

But what you can you do at home when it comes to keeping your baby preoccupied so that you can do things like work? Is there any baby tech out there that you need (or just want)?

Take a look at the latest baby tech available.

The MamaRoo Infant Seat

Every mother knows that the best way to get chores done around the home is to purchase some kind of infant seat. Placing your child in a seat will preoccupy them for a while, but the MamaRoo Infant Seat will capture your child’s attention for a lot longer. Why? This seat comes with five pre-programmed motions including one that mimics riding in a car.

The seat also comes with soothing music and other sounds that are piped into the seat, and you can even control the motion of the seat directly from your smartphone (in case your are immersed in work or some other task and don’t want to get up). At $239, this seat isn’t cheap, but it might be worth it if those old-fashioned seats just don’t cut it.

The iPotty

While it’s not a good idea to leave your child connected to a device all the time, sometimes putting an iPad type device in front of a child’s potty seat is the only way to conquer that difficult potty training task. The iPotty does just that. This potty comes with a tablet attached that your kid can play while learning to use the potty.

The Withings Smart Baby Camera

If you have hired a babysitter for the first time or are just really curious about what your baby does all day, this baby camera is for you. The Withings Smart Baby Camera attaches to the side of your child’s crib, and you can view the action from your smartphone. If something doesn’t look right, you’ll see it right away.

This product is on the pricey side at $249, but worth it if you spend a lot of time away from home and have to rely on outside help. There are other baby monitors on the market that are high tech as well, but this one is particularly interesting.

More Tech Coming

The baby market is booming with high-tech options for parents. If there’s something that you wish existed in a more technical manner, it’s probably out there somewhere. You can also check out crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter to see whether or not a new product is in the works.

Parents are always looking for a way to simplify child rearing, and many of these products making raising a child much simpler. But if you don’t have the cash to throw down for something expensive and high-tech, don’t worry - baby will be just fine with a standard crib and carseat!
