Asus has been putting out some very decent tablets (that are gaining a lot of attention) lately. While Asus was once a much ignored name within the computer industry, this is not the case with the company’s stellar tablets. If you’re looking for a tablet that’s not an iPad but is every bit as interesting as the popular Apple product, there are two excellent Asus products to consider: the Asus Transformer and the Asus Eee Transformer. While these two tablets sound the same, they are distinctly different and offer up unique features.

The Asus Eee Transformer Features and Benefits

The most important thing to know about the Asus Eee Transformer is that this tablet comes packed with a super fast Nvdia Tegra 3 processor. This processer will ensure that all of your Eee Transformer activities fly by at lighting speed and multi-tasking will be a cinch to accomplish. Asus will also be updating the Eee Transformer’s OS to Ice Cream Sandwich within the coming months, and this will put the Eee Transformer on par with all other Android devices offering the latest OS. Size-wise, the Eee Transformer comes in at 10-inches making it the perfect portable tablet for anyone seeking an on-the-go option. The Asus Eee Transformer can be purchased (at the time of this writing) for $499.

The Asus Transformer Benefits and Features

The Asus Transformer is priced a bit less than the Eee Transformer, but comes with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. This tablet also measures 10-inches, but it includes something that the Eee doesn’t: an optional keyboard dock that will turn the Transformer into a tablet/laptop hybrid – perfect for any serious professional who needs a tablet or laptop but can’t decide between the two. The optional keyboard dock is also ideal for anyone who will spend a large amount of time typing and doesn’t want to deal with a small tablet keyboard. The Asus Transformer is currently retailing for around $379.

The Main Differences Between the Two Tablets

So which one should you choose? Will the Eee Transformer be a better choice than the Transformer? Of course, it all depends on what you plan to do with your tablet, but it should be mentioned that the Eee Transformer is priced roughly $100 more than the Transformer for good reason: this tablet is faster and has received better reviews all-around. On the flip side, the Transformer is an excellent tablet choice that is priced far less than anything that Apple is offering. In case you’re wondering, the main difference between these two Android tablets and the Apple iPad is that the iPad does come with a number of tablet-optimized apps, and this is something that Asus simply can’t offer at the time being.

Whateer you do, don’t disregard the tablets that Asus is currently offering. Even though this company hasn’t gained a lot of praise in the past, it’s still a company that’s very much in the running when it comes to tablets that perform well and are favorably reviewed.
