Pandigital has just sent out an important press release. The company will no longer be providing support for any Pandigital tablet. Why? Pandigital is no more. Back in July of this year, the company announced that it was filing for Chapter 7. However, many Pandigital tablet owners missed this announcement. Now, the fact that Pandigital has gone bankrupt is really hitting home. What, exactly, is Pandigital telling tablet owners?

Basically, if you have a Pandigital tablet, your warranty will not be honored, you will not receive any replacement parts, and you will not gain any additional tech support – it’s kind of hard to get any of these things when a company no longer exists. Some wondered if Pandigital would return from the bankruptcy dark side.

It seems highly unlikely that this will happen now, though. While there might not be any more hope for Pandigital, there is a silver lining to this story. If you’re upset about this news, rest assured that there are some better, much better, tablets on the market. Here’s a review of some tablets that will easily replace your Pandigital slate.

Apple iPad: Still the Top

Apple’s iPad still remains at the top of the tablet heap. The iPad now comes with the new AS6 processor, is faster than ever, and is backed by Apple’s unmated App Store. Tablet prices begin at $499, but you may be able to find a better deal this holiday season as stores drop iPad prices.

Nexus 10 Tablet: The Best Android Choice

Nexus has been making some interesting products and apps lately. The Nexus 10 tablet is one of the better tablets on the market too. If you don’t have $499 to spend on an iPad, you might consider the $399 Nexus 10. The Nexus 10 is currently the fastest Android tablet on the market, and it comes with a vivid screen, a lightweight body, and an all-around great design. The one drawback to the Nexus 10 is that this tablet isn’t compatible with a number of apps, so keep this in mind.

Microsoft Surface: A New and Innovative Option

The Microsoft Surface runs on Office 2013, is solidly built (though not the lightest on the market), and has excellently developed video and music options. If you’re looking for a super fast tablet, the Surface may disappoint slightly, though. For speed, it’s best to go with the Nexus 10 tablet. The Windows Store doesn’t have too many apps right now, but this will likely change in the near future. The Surface retails for $599.

Pandigital’s Tablet: Easy to Replace

If your Pandigital laptop is still working smoothly, it’s a good time to start shopping for another tablet. Once that Pandigital breaks down, it will not be possible to replace it. Even though Pandigital’s news is somewhat shocking to consumers who didn’t know the company’s current state of affairs, Pandigital did warn the general public of its impending bankruptcy months ago. Fear not, though, any of the above tablets will easily replace what Pandigital offered.
