It's kind of a sad thing when a device looks and feels great, but doesn't come with enough apps. That's the case with the new LG G Pad 8.3. This tablet looks every bit the part of an iPad competitor, but (as is the case with most Android tablets), it doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of apps that will work well with the tablet.

Apps aside, the LG G Pad does have enough under the hood to excite most Android tablet enthusiasts. Here's a closer look.

The G Pad's Specs

A Snapdragon 600 processor and a 1920 x 1200 display kick off LG's latest offering. Those display specs means that this tablet will be as bold and beautiful as you want it to be, and that might be enough for some people. In addition to a decent processor and amazing display, the G Pad also comes with a nice overall design.

This tablet looks posh with an aluminum cover and more design weight than most of LG's tablets. LG is releasing two models (a white and a black) and both have the same aluminum casing with either a lighter or darker front cover. There's something else about this tablet that worthy of note too. The LG G Pad has a unique screen size.

8.3: Intentionally Sized

An 8.3-inch screen is somewhat odd when comparing the G Pad to other tablets in its class. But, that size isn't a mistake according to various sources. LG has been tirelessly researching the best possible tablet width, and 8.3 is what the company has come up with. Seemingly, 8.3-inches is all you can fit in your hand, and all that you want a screen to be. So, 8.3-inches it is - and that's not a bad number.

A screen that measures 8.3-inches and has a high-resolution is a screen that's bound to impress many. Again, LG's new tablet doesn't come with a ton of apps, but it's up to you to decide whether or not the apps included with this tablet are worth buying the device. Release Details and Pricing

LG has told press that the company will be releasing the new tablet on the third week of September, which is actually next week. The G Pad will go on sale in Korea first, though, so you'll have to wait a bit to get your hands on this tablet if you live elsewhere. As far as pricing goes, LG hasn't let the press know those details yet (which is kind of odd considering the fact that the company has released almost every other detail about this tablet!).

LG's G Pad might be worth taking a closer look at when it does arrive in North America. This tablet might not have lots of app choices, but it does come with a nice design, great screen, and just the right size (or so the company claims).
