So well, in fact, that some reviewers are wishing Asus has just made a phone and left that tablet part alone. Then again, the tablet portion of this phone/tablet combo isn’t bad either. Screen Size and Display Specifics

The phone portion of the PadFone has a 4.7-inch display. It’s also one of the first devices to use Sharpe’s new IGZO technology. This new display technology is arguably the best available. Sharpe has perfected this display so much that the PadFone phone is super sharp. The thought that has gone into the new IGZO technology is also clear, and the result is a great phone to use and look at. Thanks to Sharpe’s new technology, the Asus phone shoots 13-megapixel photographs perfectly.

The tablet portion of the PadFone comes with a 10.1-inch screen, with a resolution of 1280 x 800. The tablet screen is sharp enough and does come with its own interesting features (more below). But, it’s really the phone that most people are talking about. Why? The PadFone phone is not only equipped with Sharpe’s newest display technology, but it also has a quad-core Snapdragon S4 chip, which makes it a super fast phone. It also comes with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and long-lasting battery. If you thin that this phone sounds like the Android phone to beat, you’re not wrong.

Docking the new PadFone

The point of the tablet portion of the PadFone is that this tablet acts like a dock. You can place the phone on the dock, and the phone will effectively charge. Snapping the phone into the dock is simple with a few clicks. A small vibration will also occur when the phone has been properly docked. Flip the dock over and you have the Asus tablet mentioned above. The whole process is simple and effortless. While a tablet that’s also a dock for an Android phone might seem like a bit much, Asus has created a great thing. While other hybrids fall shot, the PadFone 2 works well, provides excellent display imagery, and is priced just right.

Pricing and US Availability

Right now, Asus’ PadFone is only set to ship to England and Asia by the end of this month. If you are a North American consumer, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on the new PadFone. As far as pricing goes, Asus has tacked a 799 GBP price tag on the PadFone, which is around $1286 USD. That price might seem high, but keep in mind that you will be purchasing a tablet and a phone for under $1500.
