Being stuck in the cold north, Rdio is one of the best options. Today, Rdio made a few changes to user dashboards that you may want to check out if you use the streaming music service.

New Rdio Updates

1. Sharing: this is something that Rdio could have benefited from for a while now, but I'm just glad it's here. If you click on the 'share' button at the top of your "currently streaming" page, you can share what you're listening to.

2. +Add Album: this new button lets you add an album to mobile, synch to your playlist, or add the album to a play later option. You can also add an album to your current collection by clicking on this button - very useful!

3. Buy MP3s: this one is simple enough to understand. If you click on the 'Buy MP3s' button, you will be able to purchase a copy of whatever you're listening to. You can add a payment method to choose the type of payment that you want to set up.

Right now, Rdio is accepting: PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or Amazon payments. Most albums are priced on the competitive side ($12 for retro Cat Stevens, for example). Newer albums may cost slightly more than that.

Great New Features and Options

I'm loving what Rdio has just added to the site. The buttons are clean and crisp from a design perspective, and the whole thing makes a lot of sense. This all comes with the news that Rdio has hired a new CEO too. The streaming music company has just signed with a former Amazon exec, Anthony Bay.

Bay has also worked at notable companies like Apple and Microsoft. All of this news comes just weeks after Rdio cut costs by chopping a large portion of its staff. Will the new CEO and new purchasing options make a difference? It seems so - then again, the days of streaming may be fading.

Out With the New?

I'm not sure if you've noticed lately, but record shops are popping up all over big cities and small towns these days. People are looking for that throwback sound, and that's something that no streaming music company can provide. Sure, streaming is still a really convenient way to listen to tunes while your mobile, but streaming might not be the number one choice of many music lover any longer.

Can Rdio turn it around? I'm still a fan of this streaming music option, but some of you may have turned to vinyl. Are we heading backwards where music is concerned - or is that really moving forwards and away from bad digital tracks? If you have purchased a vinyl record in the past few months, let me know what your thoughts are on this one.

On the flip side, I'm betting that there are some happy Rdio listeners (like this writer) out there still, right? Love or hate the new options, and where the heck is music headed?
