  • ZenDock: Wrapping Up Your Wire Problems
Technology Articles > Computers > Laptops > ZenDock: Wrapping Up Your Wire Problems

Wires are a necessity if you connect anything to your MacBook or MacBook Pro. The problem with wires is that they can become easily tangled, can break simply from being tangled, and can cause a hazard if someone trips over them. Plus, a whole mess of wires is just an ugly thing to look at.

A new company called Zenboxx based in San-Francisco seems to have the solution to your wire problem. ZenDock is a small white plastic dock that plugs directly into your MacBook Pro or Retina MacBook Pro. All the wires that you use will be tucked away neatly in this small white box, and you can keep on using as many devices as you like.

A Clearer Picture

The ZenDock combines a number of different wires into one compact docking station. The dock is compatible with USB, headphone, microphone, and flash-card readers. Additionally, the ZenDock holds a power cord quite easily. The ZenDock plugs directly into the side of your laptop, and it works with 13, 15, and 17-inch MacBooks.

At the time of this writing, the ZenDock is available through a Kickstarter campaign only. But, the company has already surpassed its original goal, and should be shipping out ZenDocks soon (before the end of October according to the company's Kickstarter page). In addition to tucking away all of your cords, the ZenDoc is also non-slip with a nice grip and base that stays secure at all times. Everything about the ZenDock is great -- except, maybe, for the price.

Pricing and Other Details

The ZenDock is priced at $179, which is a high price to pay for a device like this one. ZenDock justifies the price on its Kickstarter page, and I'm guessing that a lot of people will gladly pay this price. For some, though, it might be a high price to pay for a device of this type.

Still, there's no denying that such a device would come in handy for many MacBook Pro and Retina Pro Users. If you like the idea of the ZenDock, go ahead and contribute to the company's Kickstarter campaign. Yes, the company has already surpassed its original goal, but extra funding never hurt any startup (and I'm sure it will be put to good use)!
