To a very happy following, Instagram released its highly anticipated video feature a few weeks ago. Now, the company has rolled out a way to embed those videos on a blog and in other places. You know, just in case you really want the world to see what you're up to (and not just your followers).

Are you excited yet? If you use Instagram a lot, can't get enough of the new video feature, and want more of what Instagram's got, you are probably jumping out of your seat now. So, here's what you need to know if you want to embed an Instagram video.

How to Embed An Instagram Video

First of all, I'd like to point out that you can only embed videos on the desktop version of Instagram. I know, this doesn't make much sense, but, hey, that's the way it is. Got your desktop version open? Okay, here's how you do it:

1. Look to the right side of any public photo or video. Find the embed button.

2. Click on the embed button.

3. You will see a code pop up. Click and copy that code.

4. Add the given code to the HTML part of your site, or add the code to any article that you're write.

5. That's it! You're done! Just remember that this only works with the desktop version of Instagram.

In Addition...

Any embedded video will include the Instagram user's name next to the video. When that name has been clicked on, viewers will be taken to that person's Instagram account. This will handle any copyright issues, unless people figure out how to write this part out of the code.

Instagram is coming a bit late to the embedding game, though. Vine (Instagram's video rival) had an embed button some time ago. Now that Instagram has included this option, though, users will be happy to play around with it. After all, we need to see more videos of cats, kids, and Justin Bieber (the first video on Instagram to reach more than one million likes).

What's Next?

Instagram has really taken off ever since Facebook purchased the company. Now that the app offers video in addition to photo sharing, the app is enjoying a whole lot of new subscribers. Instagram currently doesn't generate any revenue, but I'm betting that the future of this app will include some paid subscription offers and probably some ads.

Instagram reps haven't weighed in on the future of the company yet, though it looks like this photo company is headed in whatever direction Vine (or any other currently popular app) is headed in. For now, Instagram continues to compete with Vine for video attention. The new embed button should help with the competition because, let's face it, people like to share videos.

Do you use Instagram's new video feature? Will you start clicking for code and embedding Instagram videos? If you can get your video to go viral (pay attention, brands!), the embed button could be worth more than your weight in gold.
