Yesterday, Apple made a slew of announcements. Amongst those devices announced were the newest iPhones - the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Both of these phones are now part of the ‘S’ category, and both phones have something new to offer iPhone fans. Here’s a closer look at what’s new with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Some Additions

The newest iPhones have 3D Touch (a step up from regular touch), and come in a new color (Rose Gold), but that’s not all that Apple has included in this lineup. One of the newest features comes is bound to be a hit with everyone that likes to spend time on Instagram and snapping selfies (so everyone, really). Apple has created an iSight camera that comes with 12-megapixels, which is roughly 50% more than previous versions.

The new camera upgrades mean that these phones will be able to film in 4k video, an A9 processor, and a 5 megapixel camera that’s ideal for FaceTime and better overall selfies. So what’s the 3D Touch hype all about?

Apple’s New 3D Touch

3D Touch means that these phones are a lot more sensitive to touch. Apple wanted a touch interface that responded differently to both light touches and to forceful touches. Why? A forceful touch indicates a different reaction from the phone than a light touch, and regular touch makes it simpler to do things like flip through images. Essentially, both of these phones will respond faster to touch than previous models, and that means that both phones will be simpler to use (that’s the idea, anyway).

An Android App

Perhaps the most interesting thing that Apple has done with the new iPhones is to create an Android app. Why would Apple want to create an Android app? To make it simpler for Android users to switch to the iPhone, of course.

The new app is available through Google Play, and it means that making the transition from Android to Apple for Android users will be simpler - the app basically walks Android users through the iPhone, and explains why the phones are easier and better.

Size Offerings

Apple didn’t veer too far off course when it came to the size of the new iPhones. The phones are still offered in 16GB, and the prices of the phones will continue along the same vein as the former 6 and 6 Plus. So nothing has really changed as far as size and price goes. The major changes to the phones are (as mentioned above) the touch capabilities, camera, and the newest color (rose gold).

If you want to get your hands on a new iPhone, you can do so simply by heading to Apple’s website to order your phone. Is it worth the price or the change in phones? It all depends on whether or not you are an iPhone fan, and whether or not you like what Apple had to offer previously. It’s safe to say that some iPhone fans haven’t been thrilled with past upgrades of the phone, so hopefully that will change now with the latest offerings.
