It's hard to escape a tech story when that story is all over the news! That is the case today with the new Moto X from Motorola. This phone has been highly and anxiously awaited by fans across the world, and now that Motorola has finally released the phone it's hard not to want to know more about it.

Motorola Didn't Disappoint

The Moto X is Motorola's first foray into the smartphone market with some Google help. The first thing that Motorola did was create the Moto X in many different colors - no boring black or white options here! The X measures 4.7-inches, comes with a 720p resolution, and weighs .29 pounds, which, by the way, makes it lighter than most of the popular Android phones on the market.

How Does the X Stack Up to the iPhone?

Compared to the iPhone 5, the Moto X doesn't have the same resolution and is a bit heavier than the iPhone 5. Otherwise, it compares nicely. The X is slightly taller than the iPhone 5, and in this case it's a good thing. The extra height adds to the phone's overall appeal.

Additional Specs

The Moto X runs on Motorola's X8 processor, which is the same processor that's inside of the new Droid Ultra. The X also has a 10-megapixel rear camera, and it comes with something really quite amazing: hands-free Google Now. Google Now is a voice recognition system that's kind of like Apple's Siri. The difference with Now is that users don't have to tap any kind of icon to get Google Now to work.

To use Now, the only thing that users have to do is speak to the phone. By talking to the X, it is possible to get the phone to pull up information, and to have any information that has been researched read back to a user. For example, you could ask the X to find out when the first smartphone was created, and the X would look it up and then tell you -- all without your doing anything other than talking. Yeah, that's pretty mind-blowing technology, and it's what Motorola is good at.

Motorola Has it First

Motorola tends to have technology like Google Now before any other company. That's one of the main reasons why Motorola's devices are sought after, and it's one of the reasons why the X is making headlines across the nation today. Another really cool feature that the X boasts is a flick of the wrist camera feature.

To open up the camera on the X, users simply have to flick a wrist in order to get the phone's camera to open - so no more fumbling around for apps or trying to find a camera button. Are these features great reasons to run out and buy a Moto X? Maybe; maybe not, but they are really interesting features all the same. Motorola has stated that the new Moto X phones will hit markets later this year - no specific date has been mentioned yet.
